Copy photograph of a studio portrait of Lieutenant Colonel Marmaduke George Nixon, who was killed at the battle of Rangiaowhia, near Te Awamutu, in the Waikato. The photograph is a bust portrait. Nixon is wearing a suit and has a beard. The photograph is included on page 12 of William Francis Robert Gordon's album "Some "Soldiers of the Queen" who served in the Maori Wars and Other Notable Persons Connected Herewith".
