His other hand is resting on his hip. He is looking directly at the camera. His father is seated in profile and is looking away from the camera. Both are wearing suits. A curtain is visible in the background. The photograph is included on page 12 of William Francis Robert Gordon's album "Some "Soldiers of the Queen" who served in the Maori Wars and Other Notable Persons Connected Herewith".
