Copy photograph of a studio portrait of Private Richard Wallace, Wellington Rangers, who was killed in the battle at Te Ngutu o te Manu on 21 August 1868. Wallace is pictured standing between a table - draped with a patterned tablecloth - and a chair. He is wearing a suit. His hat is resting on top of the table. A painted backdrop is visible on the left of the image. The photograph is included on page 11 of William Francis Robert Gordon's album "Some "Soldiers of the Queen" who served in the Maori Wars and Other Notable Persons Connected Herewith".
