Copy photograph of a studio portrait of Lieutenant Bamber Gascoigne, killed during the attack on Pukearuhe Redoubt on 13 February 1869. Gascoigne is pictured leaning against a pedestal. He has a sword in one hand and his military cap sits on top of the pedestal. He is wearing military uniform and has a long beard. Studio props are visible in the background. The photograph is included on page 11 of William Francis Robert Gordon's album "Some "Soldiers of the Queen" who served in the Maori Wars and Other Notable Persons Connected Herewith".
