Copy photograph of a studio portrait of Reverend John Whiteley, killed at Pukearuhe Redoubt on 13 February 1869. Whiteley is seated in partial profile and holds a book in one hand. He is wearing a suit and a clerical collar. The photograph is included on page 11 of William Francis Robert Gordon's album "Some "Soldiers of the Queen" who served in the Maori Wars and Other Notable Persons Connected Herewith".
