Copy photograph of a studio portrait of Miss Mary Gilfillan, who was badly injured in the Gilfillan massacre on 18 April 1847 at Matarawa, near Whanganui. Mary Gilfillan is seated at a table and rests one elbow on an open book with her hand held near her face. She is wearing a dress and a scarf. She is pictured in profile. The photograph is included on page 8 of William Francis Robert Gordon's album "Some "Soldiers of the Queen" who served in the Maori Wars and Other Notable Persons Connected Herewith".
