Description
Building inspector’s registers (building permits books) for the New Plymouth Borough Council, 1902-1984. Early registers include information such as description of the building, proprietor, section number, street name, cost of building, fees, architect, permit number and remarks. Later registers include information such as owner, builder, street name, section number, value, fees received, additions, demolitions and remarks. All registers have an index, sorted by surname in alphabetical order and page number for corresponding register. Some indexes are a separate book from the register and some are individual books attached to the inside back cover of the register. A card index to the first volume (1902-1922) is available in the Taranaki Research Centre.
