This mug was produced to commemorate the famous victory by Waikato over the Springboks on the first match of their 1956 tour. Don Clarke's prodigious goal kicking during his debut international match was instrumental in securing the win for Waikato and his boot size '9' is marked on the sole. Clarke, who was widely known as "The Boot" went on to be selected for the All Blacks in the Third Test of the tour. He had a glittering All Black career clocking up 781 points over 89 matches.
