Description
The second annual Taranaki Trolley Championship held on Borrell Avenue in Westown, New Plymouth on 1 June 1974. The competition was open to children under the age of 15, with those under 12 racing in a junior class, and 56 carts were entered from all over the North Island. Organised by the Pukekura Lions Club, the 50 cent entry fee was used to buy educational equipment for disabled children.
The junior race was won by W. Banks of New Plymouth with S. Winmill of Stratford coming second and S. Fox of New Plymouth in third place.
The senior race - first prize $45 - was won by G. Winmill (Stratford) with D. Banks (New Plymouth) in second and D. Moare (New Plymouth) third.
