Description
A personal effects bag containing the possessions of Private Noel Jordan. The small canvas bag has "11486. Private N. L Jordan. / Two Wallets, Watch, Photo, Coin. / 7th December 1916 " is typed on the front of the bag. " 120 " is handwritten on the same side. The bag contains a simple brown leather wallet with " N. L. JORDAN. " marked in gold on the front. "11486 N. L. Jordan No. 3 Platoon A Company " is handwritten very faintly inside along with some other illegible writing. Another black canvas wallet with room for a photographic portrait is also held in the bag. This is fitted with a portrait of Private Noel Jordan. " NEW ZEALAND FORCES " is marked on the front of the wallet around four stars. This wallet contains 20 photographs of family, memorial sites and graves, many annotated with handwriting on the reverse. The earliest identified photograph is taken in Ngaio "Christmas 1915" while some of the photographs of graves and memorials appear to have been taken in the early 1920s. The personal effects bag also contains a half penny coin dating from 1896.
