Bevan was 12 years old, and is holding a motorcycle helmet because he was riding BMX in the North Island Tournament in 1986.

The two happy athletes are Sheryl-Anne Hall (now Granvill)(15) and Bevan Hall (12), formerly of Okato and now living in London and Brisbane. Sheryl-Anne is wearing the NZ Secondary Schools Athletic Uniform representing NZ Secondary Schools in Race Walking against Australia in 1986 and Bevan BMX Riding for North Island Tournament 1986. PS Bevan is now 41, a Design Engineer in Brisbane and still cycles 500 km per week road cycling in Brisbane. Sheryl-Anne is 44, Director of a Pharmaceutical Company in London and recently completed the 'Round London' 80 mile cycle race.
