A horse drawn New Zealand Post Office mail wagon in very thick mud, Mount Messenger, Taranaki. Two men are pictured sitting at the front of the wagon, one of whom is smiling at the camera. A man is standing on the back of the wagon. Another person, possibly a child, is pictured peering out from beneath the tarpaulin covering the back of the wagon. Trees and gullies visible in the background.
