Description
A large crowd standing on a grandstand (previously identified as Opunake racecourse). The event is possibly a school picnic. Several women and children stand beneath the grandstand at ground level. The crowd in the grandstand are separated into boys and girls, the boys stand to the left of the photograph, the girls to the right. See research comments for more comments on location.

I think this is not the Opunake Racecourse. The course was situated just north of Pihama where the CONCRETE grandstand is still sitting next to a house in between paddocks. I took photos yesterday and I see no resemblance with this grandstand. Also it appears there is a mountain behind it (see right side). Under this angle (looking south) there should not be a mountain/hill...
