Description
Framed sketch of a stamp. Has "Stamp made for 1958/9 Jamboree but it was not accepted" inscribed on back of frame. Drawing depicts Robert Baden-Powell, founder of the global scouting movement. This drawing was submitted to the Jamboree standing committee in November 1957 but was not accepted as an official stamp to commemorate the Jamboree. However Coleman’s design for the Jamboree badge was accepted.
Depicts Baden-Powell in a traditional lemon squeezer hat with scout neckerchief and toggle uniform items. Has New Zealand 3D inscribed above the officer and Pan Pacific Jamboree 1959 with the official Boy Scout logo below Baden-Powell. The sketch is signed by Fred Coleman in bottom right corner.
