Description
A carved wooden Scout totem which features a panting wolf's head at the centre. " DO YOUR BEST " is carved on a circular border around the head. A portion of animal bone crowns the totem which is fitted onto a carved wooden shaft with a length of animal hair attached to the back. Some relatively modern masking tape is wound round the bottom of the shaft

This 'totem' was designed and carved by Fred Coleman for a 1936 Jungle Dance competition won by a pack of West End cubs from New Plymouth. A Wolf patrol was the second one formed at West End, and the symbol proved popular over the years.
