Credit line
It's easy to imagine this ornate inkwell taking pride of place on someone's desk, with a range of ink pens waiting for their turn to be dipped. Ballpoint pens took priority over nib pens post World War Two, and inkwells like this one lost their prominence on desks all over the world.
