Description
A Queen carnival costume. The costume includes a purple velvet cape lined with white fur with black ' spots ' of fabric scattered around it. The cape is lined with calico. It also includes a cream silk dress trimmed with decorative gold coloured metallic decoration around the shoulders and near the bottom. A plain white cotton slip designed to be worn under the costume also accompanies it. The costume is accompanied by an extra portion of fabric and a bag of off- cuts of purple velvet and fur.

This costume was worn by 11-year-old Raeburne Jones, who was crowned the Queen of the West End School Queen Carnival in 1927. The carnival was held to raise funds to relocate the school to the current site on Bonithon Avenue.
