Description
A G Edgecombe recalls family stories of how his mother came to New Zealand and lived with her brother on a farm near Patea. He relates some of his earliest memories and describes daily chores and routines. He writes of clearing the land and breaking a farm. Over the years he worked on various farms. In particular he mentions Opaku, Ngutuwera (near Waverley), Norfolk Road (near Inglewood), Rowan Rd (near Kaponga), Stratford, Oakura (Chris West's farm 1927), Stent Rd (Mr Joe Meier farm near Warea), Ihaia Rd (Mr Arnold Hickey's farm near Opunake), Pitone Rd (Mr Warner, Tataraimaka - also Bee keeping for Mr Maxwell), his years at Clawton St and Autere Street, New Plymouth.
