Production date
Circa 1893-1899
Description
Carte-de-visite bust portrait of Frank Edward Clarke, Chief Draughtsman of the New Plymouth Lands and Survey Department. Clarke is wearing a jacket with a shirt and tie. He has a large moustache and is looking away from the camera. The photograph includes an annotation in William Francis Gordon's handwriting, which reads: "In Memory of Frank E. Clarke / Died July 1st 1899 Aged 50 years". It is likely the annotation and original photograph were rephotographed, either by Gordon or George Herbert White.
