I'm wondering if these are members of the Palmerston North Polynesian Group who visited sites around Taranaki in February 1961. John Houston of Hawera was a member of that group. Group organiser Brydon Speedy organised several trips to Taranaki during the early '60s, guided by staff from Taranaki Museum. (I'm writing a paper on the PN Polynesian Group and am keen to locate any images of their activities).
