 Description
Annie Alley (1878-1951) was the daughter of John and Emily Andrews (nee Young) and granddaughter of Simon and Jane Andrews who arrived in New Plymouth on board the ship Timandra in 1842. Annie married Henry John Alley in 1898 and the couple went on to have 12 children.
As a young mother aged 29, she describes family life in Winton, Southland, and writes about her children, presents at Christmas time and Christmas dinner.
Archive includes photocopies of her journal and a handwritten letter from Simon and Jane Andrews to their parents dated 8 March 1842. This may be a copy of the letter published in 'Letters From New Plymouth 1843'.
