 Description
Aerial view of Matarikoriko pā and military stockade. Site is recorded as having a broad platform and fenced cemetery. The stockade was constructed in 1861. Located on the high ground at the east end of Matarikoriko Rd, Waitara. NZAA site number Q19/122.

The cemetery is the urupa established by Rangi Matatoru Watene for his descendants' use. Other urupa is called Tokitahi, reached by the farm road from right to left.
