Description
A copy photograph from a negative of the 'Rosanagh' property at 32 Taylor Road, Ngaere taken circa 1970. The house pictured has 6 rooms with a garage and games room underneath. Other farm buildings are also pictured. Mount Taranaki is visible in the background. Originally, the house was designed and built by James Chapman-Taylor for his brother Harold and wife Kathleen. It was built in 1903-1904 and was known as the 'Red House' because it was painted with red lead. The 'Red House' was built on the 'Rosanagh' property belonging to Theodore and Ada Taylor, parents of Harold and James Chapman-Taylor. Harold and Kathleen later purchased 'Rosanagh' from Harold's parents in 1910.
