Description
View of 'Tupare' under construction, 487 Mangorei Road, New Plymouth. A section of unfinished reinforced concrete wall protrudes at the front of the building. A plaster finish was later applied to these walls. Cedar tiles from Canada can be seen on the roof. 'Tupare' was designed by Chapman-Taylor in 1932 for Russell and Mary Matthews and their family. Differences in opinion led to Chapman-Taylor leaving the job before the house was completed.
