This typewriter belonged to architect James Chapman-Taylor. He used it to type the text in a photo album covering the construction of Wilkinson's Castle at Pukearuhe. The first of the typewritten pages in the album is headed with the title "SOME THOUGHTS ON THE BUILDING OF HOUSES". The sixth page is signed by Chapman-Taylor. The typewritten pages discuss the process of building the house, the materials used and Chapman-Taylor's thoughts on the nature of the building.
