  Part 1

1. Soldier's pay book. 2 Oct. 1914 - 1 Sep. 1916

2. Soldier's pay book. 28 Sep. 1916 - 2 May 1917

3. Postcard. Two sergeants, a corporal and two troopers. David is front left of the group. The photo was taken in camp, most likely either Awapuni or Trentham, Moscar or Ishmaelia. The diagonal white line across the photo is an out of focus tent guy.

4. Postcard. Zeitoun Camp, Egypt with date and inscription on reverse. David is likely to be the second from left of the six on camels.

5. Letter. 13 October 1916. From Nancy Woodley in Cairo written to Girlie and Maggie (sisters Christina and Margaret). This letter praises David and his friend Peter Nielsen and describes a stunt they were involved in.

6. Letter. To Miss Paterson (Christina) from Sydney James telling of the circumstances of David's death. A note on reverse mentions photographs.

7. Sergeant's stripes (1). Presumably left by David at Tarata when he returned to New Zealand for a commission in 1917.

8. List of items returned to New Zealand by the Red cross, Cairo.

9. Photograph. General officer Commanding (GOC) entering Jerusalem on horseback.

10. Memorial Scroll. Commemorates the death of 2nd Lieutenant David Paterson.
