Margaret Matangi (knonw as Aunty Meg) represented Victoria, Auckland and New Zealand Universities in basketball (now known as netball) as well as playing in Taranaki, Wellington and Auckland provincial teams before being selected to captain the first ever New Zealand basketball team to tour Australia in 1938.
