This chair was made in Stratford to mark the election of Mrs Jessie Lees, of Toko, as National President of the Women's Division Federated Farmers in 1966. Money for the chair was raised by Taranaki branches of the W.D.F.F and from contributions by individual members. It was gifted to "headquarters" in Wellington where it was used at the main table in the council meeting room and remained there until early 2010 when the organisation, now called Rural Women New Zealand, sold the premises.
