Description
A China War Medal. The silver medal features the Jubilee bust of Queen Victoria on the obverse. " VICTORIA REGINA ET IMPERATRIX " is marked around the profile. The reverse features a trophy of arms " CHINA 1900 " is marked near the bottom of the reverse. " RELIEF OF PEKIN " and "TAKU FORTS" clasps are attached to the ribbon which is crimson with yellow edges and is mounted on cardboard. " J. PROWS PTE R.M. H.M.S. ORLANDO" is marked around the edge of the medal.

This medal was awarded to J Prows for his service during the Boxer Rebellion. It was gifted to Taranaki Museum as part of a collection made by south Taranaki lawyer John Houston.
