Description
A small, electric heater known as "THE BELLING FIRE". It has a black, cast iron surround with a white, ceramic former which has coiled wires running across it. " SPECIALLY MADE / FOR / NEW PLYMOUTH / BOROUGH COUNCIL " is written on a label attached to the reverse.

Fire.
After
qualifying
as
an
electrical
engineer
in
1906,
Charles
Belling
set
up
his
own
business
and
patented
the
original
Standard
Belling
Fire
in
1912.
The
heater
was
an
immediate
success
and
the
company
grew
in
size
and
reputation.
This
heater
was
a
later
development.
The
company
also
went
on
to
develop
Baby
Belling
Cookers
in
the
late
1920s.
