A small, flat, rectangular box with a lift off lid containing 26 steel pen nibs. The sides of the box have a tartan design and the lid depicts a Scotsman by a loch with the words "Hinks, Well & Co. Birmingham, Rob Roy Pen".

These nib pens were made for dipping in to ink for writing prior to the spread of ballpoint pens. Hinks Wells and Co were a Birmingham-based factory, and until the mid 20th century Birmingham was the world centre for steel pen manufacturing.
