Description
Ron Jackson wearing boxing regalia including a large belt with the NZ fern emblem above. Coached by Alan Scaife, Ron won this Jameson Belt, awarded to the Most Scientific Senior Male boxer, four times: in Hamilton in 1973, in Christchurch in 1974, in Timaru in 1976 and in New Plymouth in 1977. The Jameson Belt was first presented to the New Zealand Boxing Association in 1927, by well-known Dublin distillers John Jameson and Sons. Jackson also represented New Zealand at the Commonwealth Games in 1974 and 1978.
