A heavy totara cross beam from a memorial cross that was erected to mark Māori graves at Mahoetahi. " HE WHAKAMAHARATANGA I NGA RANGITIRA TOA O WAIKATO / A WETINI TAIPORUTU MA I HINGA KI KONEI TATA / I TE PAREKURA I TURIA I TE 6TH NOWEMA 1860 " is engraved on the front of the cross beam. The beam has remnants of red paint near the centre and in some of the letters. A niche is carved in the centre of the reverse where the cross beam would be attached to the vertical post.

This cross beam was part of the memorial cross erected to mark Māori graves at Mahoetahi The cross was one of a series of three which are thought to have been erected in 1909. The crosses were replaced by concrete versions in 1941.
