The wall hanging shows the history of the Pearn family and their immigration to New Plymouth in 1841. It was handmade by Ann Nakagawa, a descendant of the Pearn family who now lives in Canada. She made the wall hanging and sent it home in time for the 1986 family reunion, which she was unable to attend herself. The quilt is designed from a selection of blues and bordered in royal blue, the Pearn family colour.
