Description
Born in 1879 at New Plymouth, the eldest son of William John Henry and Laura Tobin, Charles was a teacher and taught at Epson and Taupo and before training as an Anglican mnister. He was one of the first ordained clergy to volunteer for service on the 4th August 1914. He served with the N.Z.E.F. in Eygpt, Gallipoli, Malta and France. He married Mary Edith Walsh and had one son John James Walker O'Hara. After the war he was Headmaster at Hikurangi Maori College, 1919-1921.
Papers relating to the Reverend Charles Tobin who died 20 March 1921 of injuries sustained during World War One, aged 42.
