Great old photo of ‘original new vehicle showroom’ of Lawson Hunter Motors Ltd. on the southern side of Egmont Street. The company building (Showroom, offices & workshops) extended from the original RSA building to the corner before where Puke Ariki shopping centre is now, and south to the creek that ran down the North side of Queen Street. The NPCC Bus Depot & workshops took up most of the rest of the block corner (Now Puke Ariki). I believe this photo was before they installed a full glass frontage out onto Egmont Street, so vehicles were moved forward & more offices added at the rear! Some years later LHMs sold the building and moved to the Moller Motors building, on the south side of Devon Street just north of Elliot Street and ran from showrooms on Devon, offices, vehicle yard & workshops all the way to Courtenay Street.
