"Two Men in Car"

Production date
Circa 1914
Description
Alexander Walker Reid sits at the wheel of a car (a 1913 Morris Oxford Light), holding the steering wheel with another man seated next to him. Both men are wearing dark suit jackets with a shirt and tie. They are both wearing hats. The car is parked in front of a house and some trees. Part of the number plate is legible.

This car is the first Morris Oxford car imported into NZ. A. W. Reid of Stratford purchased the car from Donald’s Garage in Stratford early 1914.

The Registration plate is SD1 which stands for Stratford District 1. This was prior to the days of the general vehicle registration system adopted by the government at the end of WW1.
