Description
Rahotu Butter Factory, owned by the Crown Dairy Factory Company. This photo has been identified as being taken between 1902-1905 and the man on the left as Walter Clement Guy Green (1876-1951), who was a Crown Dairy Creamery / Butter Factory manager from 1896-1907. The woman in the cart on the left may be Walter's wife Jessie Eliza Green nee Tyrrell (1878-1951) and the man in the cart to the right is filling his cans with whey. Walter later became Chairman of the Rahotu Co-operative Dairy Company, serving in that capacity for 39 years from 1912 to 1951.

This photo was probably taken between 1902-1905. The man on the left is more than likely Walter Clement Guy Green(1876-1951), my Grandfather who was a Crown Dairy Creamery/Butter Factory Manager for that Company from 1896-1907. The lady in the Cart to the LH side could be Walter's wife Jessie Eliza Green nee Tyrrell(1878-1951) The man in the cart to the RH side is filling his cans with whey. Walter later became Chairman of the Rahotu Co-operative Dairy Company serving in that capacity for 39 years from 1912 to 1951.
