Description
New Plymouth to Opunake mail coach pictured outside J. S. Fox post office and general store in Okato. The coach is drawn by four horses and has four people sitting in the front of it. There are passengers in the rear. An 'R' insignia on the side of the coach under the drivers seat relates to the Royal Mail Line, owned by T.P. Hughson 1900 - 1907 then sold to A. Jury about November 1907. Three men stand under the verandah of the general store, bought by James Smith Fox (born 1867) in 1899, and extended in 1912.
