Street procession in New Plymouth for Ranfurly Shield rugby match between Taranaki and Waikato, 1958. Taranaki was defending the Shield. Float pictured on street, headed by group of marchers wearing light yellow uniforms. Float has a replica of Mount Taranaki on the back, which appears to be smoking/steaming. A banner reads "Ferdie says TARANAKI'S HOT STUFF". Several men are riding on the float. The street is lined on both sides with spectators. Taranaki successfully defended the Shield against Waikato, winning the game 15-3.
