Description
Copies of letters written by Katie (or Kit) Sinclair (later Chambers) to her cousin Mary (or Marie) Crowthers. Kit was 18 when the first letter was written in 1887. Living at Ngaere with her father, stepmother and three half siblings. The second letter is also from Ngaere. The third describes the journey after her wedding to Walter Chambers, from Pohokura to New Plymouth. The fourth is from Kit's stepmother written from Pohokura. The last two are from Opunake where Walter was an agent for the Northern Steamship Co. which involved organising the lightering of ships anchored offshore.
