Description
Damage to storefronts caused by a fire on Devon Street, New Plymouth on the night of 6 February 1902. The buildings damaged were on the north side of Devon Street, just east of the Egmont Street intersection. Businesses burnt in the fire were the Grand Coffee Palace, the premises of photographer C. P. Cottier (on the ground floor of the Coffee Palace), the Dresden Piano Company, the premises of land and commission agents G. Barr-Brown and J. C. Davies, and the London Dental Institute. This photograph depicts five men standing in the smashed upper windows of the Dresden Piano Company, three men standing in the smashed upper windows of the London Dental Institute and six men standing outside on the street.
