Description
Large group gathered around a woman and car outside the Criterion Hotel on Devon Street. The woman at centre is Miss Gladys de Havilland; a wealthy and independently-minded English woman on her world tour during the late 1920s-early 1930s in her Austin 7, nicknamed "Chummy". She drove into New Plymouth on Saturday 19 January 1929 at 10.30am.
