A shrub lined and uneven packed dirt road is pictured at the bottom centre of the painting leading off into the hills to the left. Inglewood township is located in the centre of the image with Mt. Taranaki/Egmont towering over it. Smoke rises from several sites in the painting.

Watercolour titled "1931 - Remember - 1935" in which seven unemployed? men (and a dog) are sitting/standing outside a corrugated iron clad office with city street/gasometer and factories in right rear - Freeman's Bay, Auckland. (This appears to be a later repainting of "Workless" see p.2278 New Zealand Heritage).
