In the foreground Antonio Rodriguez de Sardinha (holder of a New Zealand Cross) is seated on the ground. In the background crowds of people are gathered into groups and children are seated on the ground. The pink marking in the background left indicates the site of the Maori pa and the other white markings on the right toward the wooded gully represent the paths the Maori took after being driven out of the pa by Captain Cracroft and his men. The photograph has been retouched and it is adhered to card.

Name/Title
A photographic print depicting an image of Mary Reed Inch (nee Wheeler). Born: Devonport, England in 1842. At age nineteen she came to New Plymouth with her parents in 1849. Mrs Thomas Inch wears a dark dress with lace fringing, white collar and a brooch at her throat. She also wears earrings and her hair is tied back and parted in the middle.

Photograph of the first landing place of New Zealand Expeditionary Force, April 25th, 1915. Top of (brown) matting bears:- "16th Waikato Regiment / Scene of first active service / ANZAC - Cove - Gallipoli - Turkey". Below photograph:- "The first landing place of the N.Z. Expeditionary Force. April 25th 1915. In the vacinity [sic] of which the company drawn from the regiment made its first gallant stand. The percentage of casualties for the afternoon 55.3%. With Lieut. J.W. Peake's. Compliments.". Brass plate middle lower edge reads:- "In Memory of Corp W.D. Kemp. Donated by the Kemp Family." Attached to rear is a photocopied death notice for W.D. Kemp; newspaper article on W.D. Kemp and a document from the Ministry of Internal Affairs (War Graves Department) who gave the photograph to the family. It lists W.D. Kemp's Registration number as 12/774; his rank as Corporal; his Unit as being the Auckland Regiment. The photograph was framed by Nayler & Co of Collingwood Street, Hamilton.
