An edge shave with a rounded wooden handle attached to a slender shank which has a groove in the middle of the upper side and a two pronged cutting edge. There is a brass band at the end of the handle where it is attached to the shank. An indecipherable mark and " 4 " is stamped into the shank.

A collar palm with a pear shaped bulb which is hollow on one side and connected to a cranked shaft. The hollowed out portion is has numerous indentations in it and the shaft has an indent at the end and a diamond shaped hole through it. " BUTLER BROS. " is stamped on one side of the shaft.

A long rounded hardwood pole fitted with a heavy 'u' shaped piece of metal at one end. A round metal rod is inserted horizontally into the shaft near the base. Two labels have been handwritten on coroflute and nailed to the shaft. One reads "For Putting Up Power Poles NPCC " and the other reads " Early Power Pole Lifter / before the Days of Cranes / Manpower / only. "
