A brown leather and green canvas German pack and water bottle. The exterior of the pack's flap lid is covered in brown fur and fastens by two leather buckles. On the underside of the flap lid is a canvas pocket and buckled interior compartment of the pack. On the reverse of the pack are two leather shoulder straps. Where these meet the top of the pack is a leather support band with the initials "W F." handwritten in ink. Stamped into the leather are the words "Otto Koberstein / LANDSBERG a. W / 1940". Attached to the base of the pack by a metal clip is an oval aluminium water bottle that sits in a felt holder. The holder is attached to the pack by leather straps and a metal clip that can be unfastened. The felt bottle holder has four domes down its edge that can be opened for taking the aluminium water bottle out. The water bottle has a screw top lid. On the upperside of this lid the marks "S.K.N.38" are engraved. Likewise, the marks "S.K.N.38" are engraved onto the neck of the aluminium bottle.

A New Zealand Memorial Cross medal with a thin mauve coloured ribbon attached. The medal is in the shape of a four pronged cross with a wreath design between the arms. A stem with seven leaves protrudes from the end of three arms of the cross. A crown sits atop one arm of the cross. The ribbon is wrapped around a felt covered backing. "GR VI" features at the centre. "21758 CPL A.M EAGLES" is engraved on the reverse of the medal. A cardboard rectangle is tucked behind the ribbon. "This Memorial Cross is forwarded to you/ by the Prime Minister on behalf of the/Government and people of New Zealand/ in memory of one who died in the service/of his country" is written on the cardboard. The medal is boxed inside a small black case with a hinged lid and a crown on the top.

A German life jacket made of a hard wearing canvas-type fabric. The jacket has a small gas cylinder for inflation on the right facing side near the bottom and a black rubber tube for manual inflation higher up. It can be fastened by a series of straps. A manufacturer's tag written in German features prominently near the top of the neck portion. " F/o H.W. McLeod 603 " and "C.H. Lattimer" is handwritten on the reverse.

A fully wooded short magazine Lee-Enfield (SMLE) Mark III * .303 calibre rifle with brass butt cap. There are two metal sling swivels, one on the butt and one in the centre of the barrel. It is complete with a 10 cartridge magazine. " M59699 " is the serial number.

Name/Title
A wristwatch with a silver coloured metal casing and an off white coloured face. The face has three rings around it with numbers which are blue, red and black with each ring. In the centre are the bold Arabic numerals " 2,3,4," and "8,9,10". The "1,5,6,7,11,and 12" are replaced by two small dials at the centre's top and bottom. On the centre above the hands is the word "optima". On the right facing side of the case is the winder and two push buttons for starting and stopping the timer. The watch has its two bars but the strap is missing.

A woman's military khaki cotton drill frock which is unlined and lightweight and has a small collar. There are nine large brown plastic buttons down the front with a smaller brown plastic button at neckline. There is a single small brown plastic button at each sleeve cuff. It has a single lower right front pocket. A button on the pocket for fastening the flap is now missing. It has an additional extension flap at the waist with a brass catch on the end which attaches to a brass hook inside the waist. " N.Z. ?? / ?? 1942 " is stamped in black on the inside lining behind the pocket. " 11 / HOR / KIDD " is handwritten in black ink inside the neckline of the collar.

A khaki cotton drill frock with three military pockets, two on the skirt and one on the left breast. It has a self-coloured belt with a brown plastic buckle. There are nine brown plastic buttons down the front and a smaller brown button at the neck. There is a single brown plastic button at each sleeve cuff and the two pockets on the shirt. A button is missing from the pocket on the breast.

The reverse features two lions flanking a crowned oak sapling. "1939" and 1945" are embossed on either side of this and wavy lines representing the sea appear below. " THE DEFENCE MEDAL " is embossed on the bottom. The centre of the ribbon is orange and the edges are green. There are two thin black stripes running down the green. The medal is mounted as part of group of three.

Two fern fronds act as the suspender for the medal. "FOR/SERVICE TO/NEW ZEALAND/1939-1945" is embossed on the reverse of the medal which is attached to a black ribbon edged by thin white stripes. A large pin mechanism is attached to the ribbon.

A Cross of Lorraine, the symbol of Free France, is imposed on the sword. " PATRIAM / SERVANDO / VICTORIAM / TULIT " is marked on the reverse (In serving his country, he assured victory). The medal is attached to a green ribbon with black stripes.

The irregularly shaped hexagonal bronze medal features a cross of Lorraine with a Gallic cockerel in the foregrounds standing on a chain. " REPUBLIQUE FRANCAISE GUERRE 1939 1945 " surrounding a small laurel branch is marked on the reverse. The medal is attached to a wide pale blue ribbon edged with green stripes edged with red and a central column of red 'v's'. " LIBERATION " is marked on a white metal bar attached to the ribbon.
