A Snider Mark III action .577 calibre carbine with a brass nose plate, trigger guard and butt plate. The lock plate is marked with a crown and " 1872 ". A rough copy of a service mark has been carved into the butt.

There are nine large brown plastic buttons down the front with a smaller brown plastic button at neckline. There is a single small brown plastic button at each sleeve cuff. It has a single lower right front pocket. A button on the pocket for fastening the flap is now missing. It has an additional extension flap at the waist with a brass catch on the end which attaches to a brass hook inside the waist. " N.Z. ?? / ?? 1942 " is stamped in black on the inside lining behind the pocket. " 11 / HOR / KIDD " is handwritten in black ink inside the neckline of the collar.
A .577 Snider patent percussion carbine. " N.Z. 222 " is marked on the butt plate. A crown with " 1872 " under it is marked on the lock plate. There are proof marks on the side of the barrel. Initials " J. W " on side of stock and " Jo (obscured) " is also marked on the carbine.
A Royal New Zealand Air Force Flight Lieutenant's World War II uniform. It has four brass RNZAF buttons down the front, four button down pockets with smaller brass buttons and a fob pocket. The trousers have a button up fly and plastic suspender buttons. The medal ribbons on the breast feature an Africa star, and a rosette badge sewn onto the North African medal ribbon. The jacket has a pilot badge on the breast and Flight Lieutenant stripes on the cuffs.
