A circular brass seal for the South Taranaki Bacon Company. " THE / COMMON / SEAL / OF / THE SOUTH TARANAKI BACON COMPANY LIMITED " is marked in raised letters on the seal. There are two small threaded holes on the reverse of the seal where presumably a handle would have been attached.

The bag is stencilled as belonging to 73003 R. W. Syme who fought in the Pacific theatre during World War Two. Originally white, it is now heavily stained.
