Name/Title
A large brass protractor with a " V " support in the middle. Scale around the upper outside edge reads from 0 to 180 degrees - both from left to right and right to left. " Adie, London " is engraved at the top. A copper coloured raised circle inserted into the middle base of instrument has a tiny piece of glass with a small " X " scratched in the middle. c.1841. It is held in a flat rectangular wooden case with a hinged lid. The base has three pieces of wood to hold the protractor in position. Two white labels adhered to inside of lid. " ADIE / OPTICIAN / Mathematical & Philosophical / Instrument Makers / 395 Strand / LONDON " is written on one. " As far as investigation shows this protractor was brought to New Plymouth by Carrington Bros in 1841, and is part of the Original Survey Equipment supplied by the Plymouth Company " is hand written in red and black ink on another label. The box has two hooks on the front for fastening.

A linen tape measure with a brown leather case. The round case has a brass winding handle on one side with " 66 F " impressed in it. " HOCKLEY ABBEY TRADEMARK " is moulded in the leather around the handle. The tape measure itself is linen and has inches on one side and chain links on the other side.
" HOCKLEY ABBEY " and three triangles are printed on the tape. A short length of string and a metal ring are attached to end of the tape. " FOLLETT CARRINGTON " has been etched on the rear of the case and a remnant of paper is also stuck to this side.

A woman's military khaki cotton drill frock which is unlined and lightweight and has a small collar. There are nine large brown plastic buttons down the front with a smaller brown plastic button at neckline. There is a single small brown plastic button at each sleeve cuff. It has a single lower right front pocket. A button on the pocket for fastening the flap is now missing. It has an additional extension flap at the waist with a brass catch on the end which attaches to a brass hook inside the waist. " N.Z. ?? / ?? 1942 " is stamped in black on the inside lining behind the pocket. " 11 / HOR / KIDD " is handwritten in black ink inside the neckline of the collar.

Name/Title
A surveyors measuring tape made up of a thin metal band wound on a metal holder. There is a winding handle on one side and a leather strap the opposite side. The two sides of the holder are held together using a screw and wing nut. There is a plastic sign stuck on both sides which reads " DANGER / BEWARE OF / POWER LINES. "

Name/Title
A steel bar surveyors chain original standard contained in a rectangular wooden box with a hinged lid. The chain consists of a length of steel bars linked together to form a single chain which is 20.1 metres long. At each end there is a squarish shaped brass knob and ring. " Original Standard / one chain long / Steel Bars / Brought out from home about 1840 / by F.A. and O. Carrington " is written in faded handwritten text on a paper label adhered to the lid of the box.

Name/Title
A Royal New Zealand Air Force Flight Lieutenant's World War II uniform. It has four brass RNZAF buttons down the front, four button down pockets with smaller brass buttons and a fob pocket. The trousers have a button up fly and plastic suspender buttons. The medal ribbons on the breast feature an Africa star, and a rosette badge sewn onto the North African medal ribbon. The jacket has a pilot badge on the breast and Flight Lieutenant stripes on the cuffs.
